Deerbrook’s Our Town Rehab dedicated unit offers a wide range of rehabilitation services for residents and patients recovering from injuries, illnesses and disorders such as cardiac disease, stroke, pulmonary problems, joint replacement and orthopedic conditions. Regardless of the problem, our overriding goal is to get people back on their feet, back home, back to work, or simply back to their highest level of functionality and independence as quickly and safely as possible. To help make that goal a reality, unlike most facilities, Deerbrook offers rehabilitation services seven days a week, up to three times per day. Our Town is equipped with:
- Specialty staff and state-of-the-art equipment
- Remodeled rooms with hotel like amenities
- A safe, yet realistic simulated community setting for mastering the challenges of everyday living, including: porch and stairs for improved balance; automobile to practice getting in and out; ATM and retail environments to help build confidence; and a fully equipped kitchen to help reinforce and restore motor skills

Working closely with our patients’ personal physicians, Deerbrook specialists deliver intravenous (IV) therapy/TPN to treat a variety of conditions, including dehydration, nutrition-related problems, immune deficiencies, disease-related pain, and infections of all kinds. All nurses are formally trained for proper TPN techniques.

Neuro-Muscle Re-Education |

Deerbrook regularly provides comprehensive therapy for persons affected by neuromuscular disorders, including Multiple Sclerosis (MS), Guillain-Barre Syndrome and Parkinson’s disease, with the aim of restoring maximum functional performance and overall well-being. Multi-disciplinary care plans address the patient’s physical, cognitive, emotional and vocational needs, with a range of specialized treatments and services, among them:
- Strength and range of motion exercise
- Mobility training
- Re-education in skills of daily living
- Communication skills re-training
- Swallowing management
- Gait and balance training
- Psychological counseling and family support

Orthopedic Rehabilitation |

Deerbrook’s comprehensive orthopedic rehabilitation program offers the therapeutic, clinical and technical resources needed to address a wide range of orthopedic conditions, including:
- Joint replacement
- Fractures
- Cervical and lumbar injuries
- Arthritis and osteoporosis
- Amputations
Using a team approach to care, programs combine individual therapies, pain management, strength, balance and mobility training, biomechanical re-education, joint protection and other techniques to restore patients to optimum levels of functional independence.

Out Patient Rehabilitation |

|
A wide range of outpatient rehabilitation services are available to former Deerbrook patients who need to continue their recovery progress after discharge, as well as for those whose conditions do not require an initial inpatient stay. Treatment is individualized and interdisciplinary, with much of the focus on home and community re-entry skills. Services are covered under Medicare B, private insurance or managed care insurance.
