Memory Enrichment Neighborhood

Welcome to The Village, our dedicated, secured memory enrichment neighborhood. The Village combines specialized programming, personalized care planning and 24-hour personal support that individuals with Alzheimer’s and related disorders need and deserve to maintain quality of life, retain personal dignity and maximize independence.

Our intimate, close-knit community is designed to help give those in our care a sense of purpose, belonging, and well-being. Our compassionate staff members receive extensive training focused on the special physical, emotional, social and dietary requirements of our residents. As family members often benefit for increased understanding, education and emotional support, we also provide individual family counseling and conduct monthly support group meetings held by Arlene Albert, Community Education Coordinator.

The Village Memory Enrichment Neighborhood features include:

• A specially designed, secured 41-bed setting
• Compassionate, designated caregivers providing 24-hour personalized care
• The most well-established Alzheimer’s care program in the Joliet community with over 25 years of experience
• Director of Nursing with over 20 years of experience
• High staff-to-resident ratio
• Wanderguard monitoring for optimum safety and security
• “Person-centered” philosophy, involving the resident physically, emotionally and mentally in his or her own care
• Specialized care and staff provided for each resident based on their abilities and limitations
• Specialized programming and activities to meet each resident’s level of functionality
• Peaceful “figure-eight” – designed gardens and walking paths
• Family support and educational programs
• Available on-site therapy
• Pastoral care services
• Pet therapy

Moreover, because Deerbrook Care Centre accepts multiple payer sources, our residents’ families have peace of mind knowing that their loved one will not be forced to move to another facility due to financial issues. Not only does this assurance improve continuity of care, it is especially important for residents with memory loss, for whom such transitions can be particularly stressful.
