Deerbrook Care Centre, Joliet, IL sponsors 2010 Memory WalkJoliet, IL - Deerbrook Care Centre, 306, N. Larkin Ave., participated in the 2010 Memory Walk on Saturday, September 25th.  The annual event is sponsored by the Alzheimer's Association to raise money and awareness for Alzheimer's disease.  Deerbrook Care Centre helped sponsor the event with a preliminary donation and then contributed additional money raised by those who walked with the Deerbrook team.
The featured speakers for the event were Will County Executive, Larry Walsh and our own Arlene Albert, recent Athena Award recipient. They both spoke about current research being done in the fight against Alzheimer's and how the money raised will not only aid in that research, but will help to keep the Alzheimer's Association, Greater Illinois Chapter open.  They also discussed the importance of and provided information for local support groups in the area for those with Alzheimer's and their families. Mr. Walsh has been County Executive for the last 6 years and was the Illinois State Senator for the 43rd District from 1997 to 2005.  He and Arlene both have served on local school boards and both have been emceeing the event for several years.  Deerbrook Care Centre would like to thank everyone who participated and/or donated money to support the fight against Alzheimer's disease.  Deerbrook Care Centre would also like to remind everyone that we are a community resource for those with Alzheimer's as well their caregivers and family members.
