Deerbrook adds wound care to specialty programs

In an effort to provide the best in skilled nursing care in Joliet, Deerbrook recently added a wound care program to its growing list of specialties.  The wound care program includes

- a 42 bed unit specifically set up to allow for the care of wounds
- Dr. Marius Katilius, as the medical program director
- 17 Certified Nursing Assistants (CNA) who have all received their   certificates in   the prevention and treatments of wounds
- A certified wound care nurses.

All CNA’s that work on this unit have gone through a series of training courses and testing to ensure that they are fully knowledgeable in preventing wounds and successfully treating current wounds.  These fantastic CNA’s have given many hours of time and dedication to the patients who reside on the wound care unit, and for that, Deerbrook has seen MANY positive outcomes.   To show our gratitude for all of their hard work and fantastic test scores- Deerbrook recently held a graduation ceremony for all 17 wound care CNA’s.  Mr. Shael Bellows and Administrator Tammy Stoneberger were delighted to present certificates of achievement to the CNA’s.  The dedicated CNA’s who completed the extensive training are as follows:  Candis Lee, Samara Darling, Karshena Robinson, Tysha Hammond, Nina Holmes, Samantha Haywood, Barbara Lee, Edna Peterson, Charles Hill, Josh Shott, Jordan Hejia, Camare Mitchell, Pilar Bernal, Patrice Hearn, Dorothy Matthews, Daisy Cepeda, and Keiwanna Edwards.
