Deerbrook Care Centre - Joliet, IL - 2011 Walk to End Alzheimer'sDeerbrook Care Centre - Joliet, IL

Deerbrook Care Centre raised over $1,000 for the recently held, "Walk to End Alzheimer's".  This national event was created and is organized annually, by the Alzheimer's Association, to create awareness and raise money in the fight against Alzheimer's disease.  Each year, Deerbrook Care Centre raises money through various fundraisers and sends a large team to participate.  This year, through 50/50 raffles, "Wear Jeans to Work Day" and a bake sale, Deerbrook raised over $1,000 to donate to the Alzheimer's Association.  They also had the largest team present, with 56 volunteers walking together, most of them in their bright red Deerbrook t-shirts.  It was quite impressive to see such a large group from a single organization.  The group, made up of staff and family members, braved the chilly, but sunny day and as they walked together.
In addition to the large team, Deerbrook's own Arlene Albert, Community Education Coordinator spoke at the event, stressing the importance of early detection and research efforts.
Deerbrook is committed year round in their efforts to provide awareness, support and especially care, to those living with Alzheimer's as well as their caregivers.
